Performances - Our 89th Season


Players Guild of Leonia The Players Guild of Leonia produces four public productions per season, plus a series of special events, at the Civil War Drill Hall Theatre in Leonia, New Jersey, a 110-seat, wheelchair-accessible historic landmark.

Musicals, comedies, classic and contemporary drama, children's theatre, workshops and a playwrights' showcase.

Join us for the performances and special events of our 89th season. Doors open thirty minutes before show time. Open seating.

Events and performances are held at the Civil War Drill Hall Theatre, 130 Grand Avenue, Leonia, New Jersey 07605. Follow directions by car and bus. Evening parking at Leonia Municipal Pool, one block north.


UPCOMING PRODUCTIONS:



MOON OVER BUFFALO: Written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Bobbi Weintraub. A madcap comedy in the tradition of Lend me a Tenor. With Frank Capra coming to see them perform in Buffalo, George and Charlotte Hay have one last shot at movie stardom. But, hilariously, everything that can go wrong for the couple does, and mayhem rules. Freewheeling farce at its funniest.

Performances October 24th thru November 9th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00PM, Sundays at 3:00PM.

THE FROG PRINCE:
Based on a tale by The Brothers Grimm. Written by Donald J. Leonard, Jr., music and lyrics by David Reiser, directed by Helene Marshall. A prince is turned into a frog and a princess cannot speak very well -- because they are both under the spell of an evil witch. But have no fear...with the help of some delightful froggy friends all turns out well with a Happy Ending.

Performances December 6th & 7th.

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES: Written by Eve Ensler, directed by Angela Cozzi. The Obie Award-winning play written by Eve Ensler is a riveting series of monologues read by women. Updated with new monologues every year, The Vagina Monologues has been staged internationally and featured on TV in a version produced by HBO. In 1998, Ensler launched V-Day, a global non profit that has raised over $50 million for women's anti-violence groups through benefit performances of the play.

Performances February 6th thru February 15th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00PM, Sundays at 3:00PM. "V-Day" Benefit Performance Saturday, February 14th at 8:00PM.

110 IN THE SHADE Lyrics by Harvey Schmidt, book by N. Richard Nash. Based upon The Rainmaker by N. Richard Nash. A rousing musical version of The Rainmaker, 110 In the Shade focuses on Lizzie Curry, her relationship with local sheriff File, and the charismatic Bill Starbuck. Promising locals he can bring rain to the drought stricken southwest area, Starbuck also tempts Lizzie to leave her humdrum life. Memorable songs include "Another Hot Day," "Raunchy," "Love Don't Turn Away," "Simple Little things, " and "Wonderful Music."

Performances March 6th thru March 22nd, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00PM, Sundays at 3:00PM.

GALA FUNDRAISER: Saturday, April 25th at 8:00PM.

PLAYWRIGHTS SHOWCASE: Friday & Saturday June 5th and 6th 8:00PM - Sunday, June 7th at 3:00PM.
